I've been a little sick the past few days, just a cold, nothing major. Interestingly enough, it is the first time in years that I've had a cold. Normally I just have sinus infections. But anyway, I decided to walk to the store to get medicine since I still didn't have my car (and still don't, but I am supposed to get it back today. We'll see.) There is a Rite Aid about a mile from me, but I'm not supposed to go in there because of the little "incident" that happened when I got mad at the photo people for losing my pictures. So I decided to walk to Walgreens, which is two miles away. I bundled up really good and got my iPod and set out. There were a few places to stop along the way and get warmed up, gas stations and the like, and I planned the stops carefully so I didn't get too cold.
I walked the two miles there without any trouble, just that my legs were cold from wearing such thin pants. They have holes in them, but they were the only clean ones I had. I sat down at the photo counter for a minute, got a Gatoraid for the walk back so I didn't get dehydrated, got the cold medicine and set off for home. By the time I was about a mile from home, I started to get really sore. My knees and thighs started to really hurt. I don't think it was so much the distance as it was the cold weather and the uneven roadsides.
When I got about 3/4 of the way through my journey, I remembered an old shortcut I used to take. When I was in high school, I could go around the back and cut through a field to get home faster than I could if I'd waited for the bus. So I walked around the side of the school and around to the back and saw many things I'd almost forgotten. Lots of memories from my old stomping grounds. I saw the place I used to hang out when I didn't want to go to gym class, the track and field were I'd taken many walks, the old, gross pathway where the smokers gathered and the courtyard where I ate lunch almost everyday for four years. Made me wonder where all the time and people went from back in the day, but most importantly, it made me think about how much my life has changed over the last decade. I've been out of high school for seven years now, and it's weird now to think I was ever there.
Long story short, the shortcut had been gated off and I'd have to take the long way. So I walked back out as if I'd just been exploring a time capsule and headed home. Then, I remembered another shortcut. A few buildings down from my old high school was a church where my mom used to work. She worked in the daycare there. There was a way to go around the back of the church that might again be a nice shortcut. So I walked around the back and sure enough, there was only a ditch between my neighborhood and the one I had to go through to get there! I walked very carefully down into the ditch, which was covered in tall grass and frozen water. I walked to the edge, and while deciding which way to get across, fell in. That's right, I fell in the ditch full of frozen water. While getting myself out, I dropped my drink. My pants and shoes were soaked and I knew I needed ot get home quickly. So I walked briskly the rest of the way home.
After a few hours, Jimmy picked me up and we headed out to start filming. We parked over by U of L (University of Louisville) and got out the camera equipment. The whole thing needed to be filmed in the car, so we were parked over by the construction site and didn't figure it would be a big deal. After about 20 minutes, someone approached the car. He was part of the construction team. Matt, the other guy filming with us, had a bandage on his head as part of the scene. It was all bloody and gross and the guy though Matt was injured. We told him no, we were doing this for a movie. The guy then asked us if we were planning to steal his lumber. We laughed it off and told him no. About 15 minutes later he calls the cops on us, then we have to deal with that. We tell the guy honestly why we are there and he tells us just to leave asap. It's funny because as he walked up to the car Matt had a (fake) gun pointed at Jimmy who was in the back seat. If the cop had pulled a gun on us it would have been so messed up.
Then we got lost in the West End of town (the really bad, scary part.) We went and picked up Jimmy's girlfriend and then went to eat at Qdoba, then I came home and had about five minutes to change clothes for church. Went to church, came home and got in a fight with my dad about how I need to "get my priorities straight." I have in the days since, and will write a seperate entry about that later today. Then I left and went to Wes's house and we watched a documentary about Hunter S. Thompson. We Louisvillians like him because he's a local boy. And because he was an awesome writer.
Not a bad end to a really, really strange day. My days aren't that full of excitement anymore, and this was certainly a change of pace.

I can't sleep at night for one thing. So I'm tired all the time, and no one understands why because "... you aren't working, why on Earth would you be tired???" Ugh. I feel like I've become irritating in some way that eludes me. A few of my friends have very randomly stopped talking to me or even making eye contact. Not friends I'm crazy about or anything, it's just odd. My good friends are still acting the same.
I keep doing special favors for people and running all over town to help them get things done that they can't do because they're working, and I'm using lots of gas and money to help. I believe in the projects, so that isn't the issue. The problem is that I'm doing stuff for others to the point of exhaustion. Yesterday I had a "fall out," which is what I call "running too much, not sleeping and not eating right to the point of getting all shakey and crying." Hasn't happened in a really long time, so I tried to chill a little more today. Still worn out. I need to watch Amadeus. That movie is so long that I can get a good rest in while watching it.
I keep forgetting important stuff, too. I had a late credit card payment, a first for me. The worst though is that I forgot Tera's birthday. I was bummed all day about that one. I mean, unconsolable. So Tera, if you're reading this, I'm so sorry. I now wish you a very, very happy birthday and may all your dreams come true. A little cliche, but that's what any card would have said if I got you one.
Sometimes I wonder if I have done something wrong to the point of being beyond redemption. So many bad things keep happening. I woke up crying from the worst nightmare I've had in years on Thanksgiving morning. It was about my family being completely ripped apart. I woke up and cried for a long time, went back to sleep and had an even worse dream. My body was so tired it tried to sleep again. But I could sense another bad dream coming and I woke myself up and stayed up the whole morning reading. I feel like something dark is coming for me.
At many times in our lives, we have cycles. Good, then bad, then back to good again. My bad cycle seems to be lasting a lot longer this time. But if the good outweighs the bad (and I ultimately believe that it does,) then I have to have patience and wait for the good again. And if I truly believe what I just said, then I have to be willing to wait and in the meantime, do all I can to make good happen in the lives of others.

You like???
1. The way things go in my head
and
2. The way things work in the real world
The way things go in my head seem far more realistic, I guess. In my head, I'd like to think I'm a good person, hard working and caring. I want to think that's how other people think of me too, but yesterday, we see how the real world thinks of me. It was the day to celebrate Halloween at work and I was pretty excited. I dressed up like Alex from "A Clockwork Orange" and about six people actually knew who I was! The rest thought I was Charlie Chaplin from some reason . . . . retards.
So it was fun, hanging out and looking at all the other costumes and such. Goofed around a lot all day, got lots of candies from people, etc. At the end of the day, I got a call from the HR department who asked me if I could come downstairs for a second. No prob, I wasn't busy. I go downstairs and there is my supervisor sitting with Bob, the HR director. They ask me to shut the door and have a seat. I do. They immediately tell me that they are "terminating the employer relationship." WTF?!?!?! So I'm fired from my job. They told me it was due to "not meeting company standards." In other words, being on time everyday, getting my work done with no help and answering the phones more than anyone in my department counted for absolutely nothing over the last 14 months. They were like, "You're not a bad person and we think you did the best you could, but this job just isn't a good fit for you." They told me I was eligible for unemployment and that they wished me a lot of luck and that I could visit anytime. I said I'd come in Monday for my things and they said no, I had to get them today. They made me wait in the office with them until everyone left, then I had to get my things and leave. They watched me get my stuff like I was a convict, making sure I wasn't stealing anything. Cocksuckers.
Then I walked out and cried and cried most of the day. In my mind, I was doing the best I could, but in the real world that didn't matter. Makes me wonder which is right. I have to fit the standards of the world in order to succeed in the workplace and such, but those standards don't make sense to me. Somedays that makes me feel confused. Which is correct? I sought advice from a friend. I told him that my family cast a pretty big shadow. My dad has noy had very many jobs, and kept each of them until the places closed down. He worked hard his whole life and never got in trouble. At his last job he was given no sick or personal time, thus he never missed a day. EVER. He left early the day I was born, that was it. So here I am, getting fired from jobs more than once, and quitting the ones that were truly awful. My dad didn't have these problems, so I feel like a loser from struggling so hard. I really do.
I really thought that I'd be further than this at 24. I did! But I guess Tyler Durden was right. The media makes things look like our lives will ultimately end up with some sort of fame and fortune, but it's unlikely. That's how things work in the real world. In my head, I'd love to be a famous writer; that's been my dream since I was 14. Ten years later, I still want that. How can I make it happen? In my mind it doesn't seem hard, but the real world tries daily to kill the dream.
I guess some advice would be in order. I need real world advice, but also advice from the heart. Do you think you'll get what your heart desires? Can it happen if I work hard enough to make it happen? I think so. Because if I don't believe in it, the real world wins. And my sanity cannot handle such a thing.

I have exactly one girl friend. All the rest of my friends are guys. I always cherished that about our friendship, the fact that she was the only one who was not only a girl, but understood that I'm not really a "conventional" girl (no makeup 98% of the time, I don't carry a purse, I dress sort of guy-ish, etc) and that she really "got" me and my strange sense of humor. I'd had a good girl friend before, but we had a falling out. We made up and everything seemed back to normal, and when she went to college she never spoke to me again. I was heartbroken.
Over the years, we have confided a lot with each other about things we (literally) never told anyone else. So last week I told her something very, very personal that was bothering me because I knew I could trust her. WRONG. At 9am this morning, I got a phone call from an unknown number. It was my friend's mom. She was like, "I need to talk to you about something serious. Do you have a minute?"
I told her I was at work but I had a minute if it was something serious. She then proceeds to tell me about how my friend told her all my problems and she wanted to talk to me about them. I was livid. I told her I was taking care of it and I didn't want to talk to her about it. She kept insisting in a passive aggressive way that I answer her questions, and I told her NO WAY. So at the end of the most uncomfortable phonecall ever, she commented, "Maybe I handled this the wrong way." Then she told me she loved me. OMG.
So if I seem a little tense, it's because NOTHING in my life is going right at the moment. I am so ticked I can't stand it. How should I handle this? I could really use some advice right now.

I made a few this year, but here's my favorite one <3
